DUSTMEK

Advanced Liquid Dust Suppression Technology

Engineered to Control Dust. Designed for Mining.

Overview

Dust control, developed by ELMEK

Developed by ELMEK's laboratory and engineering team, DUSTMEK is an advanced liquid dust suppression technology designed to address airborne dust challenges across mining operations, mineral processing facilities and bulk materials handling systems.

DUSTMEK combines laboratory evaluation, practical engineering knowledge and mine-site application experience to support effective dust management in demanding industrial environments.

Available in two application-focused grades, DUSTMEK provides flexible dust-control options for mining roads, crushing plants, conveyor systems, transfer chutes and other dust-generating areas.

The dust challenge

The Challenge of Dust in Mining

Dust generation is a common challenge across mining, crushing, screening, transportation and mineral processing operations. Uncontrolled airborne dust can affect workplace conditions, visibility, housekeeping, equipment performance and environmental management.

Conventional water spraying is widely used for dust control, but its effectiveness and water consumption can vary considerably depending on site conditions, material characteristics and application methods. DUSTMEK has been developed to provide an additional liquid dust-control option for these environments.

DUSTMEK does not replace mandatory dust extraction, containment or other occupational exposure controls.

Common dust-generation locations

  • Mine haul roads and access roads
  • Primary, secondary and tertiary crushers
  • Conveyor transfer points
  • Transfer chutes
  • Screening plants
  • Stockpile loading and reclaim areas
  • Material loading and unloading facilities

Engineering

Dust Control Designed Around Your Operation

Effective dust suppression depends on more than the selection of a chemical product. Material characteristics and operating conditions can influence the performance of any dust-control system.

ELMEK's engineering team can work with operators to evaluate suitable DUSTMEK applications and integration with existing infrastructure.

    Performance Review

Laboratory evaluation

Laboratory Evaluated. Developed for Practical Application.

DUSTMEK technology is supported by external laboratory testing of dust suppression performance and selected safety-related properties, including dust suppression efficiency, acute inhalation toxicity, acute skin irritation and selected heavy-metal analysis.

Reported results relate to the tested sample and test conditions. Detailed information is available through a technical enquiry, subject to authorisation.

Water management

Supporting Efficient Water Management

Water availability and dust-control efficiency are important considerations for mining operations. DUSTMEK is intended to provide an additional dust suppression option that can be evaluated alongside conventional water-only spraying systems. ELMEK reports that comparative water-consumption data has been collected during product evaluation.

Actual water consumption, treatment requirements and reapplication intervals depend on site conditions and should be established through appropriate site trials.

Environment & process

Responsible Application in Mining Operations

The suitability of a dust suppression agent depends on its intended use, material characteristics, exposure conditions and downstream processing requirements. ELMEK has experience with DUSTMEK site applications where no downstream processing issues were reported.

Site observations should not be interpreted as formal verification of compatibility with leaching, CIL, CIC, flotation or other processing systems. Individual applications should be evaluated with the site's processing, operations and environmental teams. Relevant technical and safety documentation may be made available following review.

Application & supply

Flexible Application and Supply Options

Application methods

  • Mine water trucks
  • Conveyor spray systems
